Center for Orthopedics
The Department of Orthopedics specializes in the care of problems of the musculoskeletal system, with a staff of orthopedic surgeons specializing in the special needs of children of all ages, from birth through adolescence. The support staff is comprised of professionals including orthopedic technicians, nurses and other highly trained professionals that meet the needs of your child.
The Department of Orthopedic Surgery provides diagnosis and treatment for:
• Fractures (traumas)
• Musculoskeletal tumors
• Cerebral Palsy
• Scoliosis and spinal problems
• Sports injuries
• Neuromuscular disorders
• Hip disorders (hip dysplasia, Perthes disease, etc.)
• Disorders of the foot (equinovarus foot)
• Genetic bone disorders
• Deformities and inequalities in limb length
Our Faculty
Dr. Pablo Marrero
Orthopedics Unit Chief. Completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico. He did his training at Shriners Hospital for Children's in Tampa, FL.
Dr. Samuel Fernández
He completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico. He carried out his training at Nemours Children's Clinic in Jacksonville, FL.
Dr. Jose Collazo
He completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico and did his training at Alfred I. DuPont Institute in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dr. Christian Foy
He completed residency in orthopedic surgery at the Medical Sciences Campus, University of Puerto Rico and did his training at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and Texas Scottish Rite for Children's in Dallas. He specializes in pediatric upper extremity orthopedic surgery.
The San Jorge Pediatric Orthopedic Institute operates Monday through Friday during regular business hours. For evaluation please call 787-999-9455 / 787-522-8132 / 787-522-8133. We also have on call orthopedic doctors and technicians who are available 24/7 in the Emergency Room of the hospital.
